Human Platelets – Apheresis-Derived
Platelets are an important component of blood whose function along with the coagulation factors is to react to bleeding from blood vessel injury and initiate a blood clot.
Single donor apheresis platelet collected in ACD-A anticoagulant and suspended in plasma. One unit of apheresis platelets contains ≥ 5.0 × 1010 platelets. Storage at room temperature (20 – 24C). Volume between 40 – 70 mL.
Our platelets are collected at FDA-licensed donor centers and further processed at our cell isolation. We offer specialty platelet products and formats upon request. All donors are tested for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, WNV, CMV, and other blood-borne pathogens.
Biospecimens are obtained from properly consented donors. We conform to HIPAA standards to protect the privacy of the donor’s personal health information.
Human Material Precaution
It is best to use caution when handling any human cells or cell fragments. We recommend all human biospecimens should be handled as if potentially infectious following biosafety level 2 procedures.
Even with infectious virus assays or viral antigen assays, a negative test result may leave open the possible existence of latent viruses.
